Reinhardt's cross country teams may have been participating in the Disney Cross Country Classic in Kissimmee, Fla., Saturday, but it was no Mickey Mouse meet. Both teams performed well with solid average team times in heat and humidity and against opponents from across the spectrum of collegiate classifications.

"We ran well today for the heat and humidity," said RU head coach Jordan Turner. "We train for heat and humidity, but it's tough to race in conditions like we faced. I'm proud of the way we ran in a large meet environment against quality teams from around the nation. I'm also grateful that we could compete on a big stage."

Reinhardt's men's squad had the sixth-fastest team average of all-time with a 28:42.42. Leading the way for Reinhardt was Roger Herrera with a 27:44.5, good for 93rd place in the field of 256 runners. Next was Alex Garcia in 28:27.6. Six seconds behind Garcia was Nick Zvirbulis, while Nate Trottier was just two seconds in back of Zvirbulis. Alex York was the final runner in RU's top five with a 30:11.6, with RU's sixth time being posted by Justin Pirkle in 30:24.4.

Also running for the RU men were Brent Blackwell, Beau Rush, Austin Brennan, Alex Suciu, Rafael Salazar-Cruz, and Dustin Nelson.

On the women's side, Savanah Rice was the quickest of RU's female competitors with a 20:43.60, finishing in 96th out of 304 competitors. Melanie Gerdes was next with a 21:41.9, while Jazzmine Gonzalez was third for RU with 22:30.70. Shelby Bennett finished in 24:00.3, and Cameron Hawkins was fifth on RU's squad with a 24:47.4. Kaylee Rinesmith was less than two seconds behind Hawkins with a 24:49.2.

Also running for the Lady Eagles was Ansley Avera, Anna Mills, and Kelsey Dawson.

As a team, the Lady Eagles posted an average time of 22:44.78, the fastest for the program since 2007.
